Description
This refreshing Peach Iced Tea recipe combines the bold flavor of brewed tea with a homemade peach syrup made from pureed peaches, sugar, and honey. Served with frozen peach slices, this iced tea is perfect for a hot day and can be made using either fresh or frozen peaches for a delightful fruity twist.
Ingredients
Scale
Tea
- 4 cups water
- 1 family size tea bag
Peach Syrup
- ¾ cup sugar
- ¾ cup honey
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups frozen peaches, thawed and pureed (or 2 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced)
Serving
- 2 cups frozen peaches (do not thaw; if using fresh peaches, slice and freeze until ready to serve)
- Ice cubes as needed
Instructions
- Steep the Tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove it from heat, add the family size tea bag, and steep for 5 minutes. Pour the brewed tea into a 2-quart pitcher and set aside.
- Prepare the Peach Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine ¾ cup sugar, ¾ cup honey, and 1 cup water. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add the pureed peaches, bring back to a low boil, then remove from heat and let cool.
- Strain the Syrup: Pour the peach mixture through a mesh sieve held over a small bowl. Press on the peaches to squeeze out as much juice as possible and discard the remaining peach pulp.
- Mix the Peach Tea: Add the peach syrup to the brewed tea gradually, tasting as you go, until it reaches your desired sweetness. Typically, adding 1 to 2 cups of syrup to 4 cups of tea yields a pleasant sweetness. For a single 8-ounce serving, add ¼ to ½ cup of syrup.
- Serve: Place frozen peaches into 4 glasses, add ice cubes, and pour the sweetened peach tea over the peaches and ice.
- Store Leftovers: Store any unused peach syrup in the refrigerator for future use. Leftover brewed tea can also be refrigerated.
Notes
- Frozen peaches work wonderfully for this recipe and are a great substitute when fresh peaches are not available.
- To freeze fresh peaches for serving, slice them and lay on a parchment-lined pan before freezing.
- Adjust the sweetness by modifying the amount of peach syrup added to the tea.
- Store leftover tea and syrup in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.
- For a stronger peach flavor, use fresh ripe peaches if available and more syrup if desired.
